Blackstar Dairy is a family dairy farm and processing plant owned and operated by Rod and Sue Cloose
and our children. We own the cows and GUARANTEE 100% rBGH hormone-free milk. We bottle only
the milk we produce so we can control every aspect of production. We assure you of the very finest in quality and taste.
Here at Blackstar Dairy, we belive that quality feed, cow comfort and care are the critical factors in producing the highest quality dairy products. From calves to the milking cows, we strive to provide the best in comfort and health. Healthy cows produce healthy milk.
We start with high quality milk and bottle it within hours of production. Most other major milk processors truck and store milk for days before it is bottled. Our milk tastes different, it tastes FRESH!
THE BLACKSTAR DAIRY STORY
Blackstar Dairy was established in 1988 on a small farm just a short distance from our current location. Blackstar was the name given to our first heifer born. She became our namesake and her image is now our logo. As we continued to grow our herd and our family, we moved our operation to Eagle Bend in Central Minnesota.
In 1996, our family being complete with AJ, Rob, Amy, Amber, and Max, we made the decision to "come back home" and purchase the family farm. After much "number crunching," rather than expanding our herd, we made the decision to bring our products directly to the customer. Production began in March of 2001. Our current facility consists of a 60 stall free-stall barn with milking parlor and processing plant.
